Spanish defender Aymeric Laporte, currently with Al-Nassr, is open to returning to
Spain by joining Real Madrid, as reported by Spanish newspaper “AS” on Thursday.
Laporte is willing to give up the remainder of his contract, worth €48 million, to play for the European champions.
According to the report, Laporte is prepared to forfeit his remaining earnings with
Al-Nassr to ease his transfer to Madrid. However, Al-Nassr’s management is adamant about not releasing
the player without a contract sale, having signed him last summer from Manchester City for €27 million.
Real Madrid’s president, Florentino Pérez, has informed Laporte that the club will only sign him on a free transfer.
Meanwhile, Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti is in favor of adding Laporte to the squad, seeing him as a valuable addition to the team’s defense.
In June, Spanish media reports suggested that Al-Nassr was willing to release
Laporte for €15 million. Laporte, who recently won the European Championship with
Spain, played 40 matches for Al-Nassr across various competitions
last season, scoring four goals and providing one assist, according to Transfermarkt.
